We have a busy couple of months ahead, there are lots of fun activities planned, as well as Parent consultations; sports afternoon; our summer outing to The Rare Breeds Centre and our Leavers Party for all the children who are continuing their learning adventures to big school! Hopefully this will all be done in some lovely summery weather 


Thank you so much to all of you who donate items each week for our snack times. The children have been lucky enough to receive a lovely range of healthy options at snack times. THANK YOU!


The promotion has now ended, we have just over 1700 vouchers and hope to use these to order some new role play foods, a colour sorting game and an activity book….. a BIG thank you to everyone that gave us vouchers 


We have welcomed a new Chairperson, Rebecca Kelly (Charlie’s Mummy) and Secretary, Hannah Booth (William’s Mummy) and new fundraising committee member Cera Thorpe (Ava’s Mummy) to our committee, if joining our committee is something that may be of interest to you, please make staff aware or contact Sally via Email on [email protected] . We give heartfelt thanks to Michael Moore and Steve Robbins who were our previous Chairperson and Secretary, they managed to raise substantial funds for us during their time on the committee and we are pleased to say that Mike will be remaining with us in an advisory capacity.


Please can we ask that unless you are unavoidably late in the mornings can all children be dropped off using the garden door BEFORE 9.10am. We understand that sometimes it is impossible to get to pre-school before then and in these cases please do use the side door via Chapel Lane. Also, unless it is an emergency please can children be collected via the garden at the usual end of session times of either 12pm or 3pm. This avoids circle time being interrupted and makes it easier for the children to remain focused on the circle time activity, thank you.


We have been lucky to have brilliant fundraisers…..our CAKE STALL raised an amazing £182.83; Christie raised £165.00 doing the Hastings Half Marathon; Hannah Booth entered us for the PREMIER SPORTS draw and we won a £200 voucher from them – they will be visiting us next year to give the children some sports tuition . The Bags to School collection raised £128.00; we received a £50 donation to cover this year’s costs for sun cream. We were very lucky to also receive an anonymous £100 donation. Our Easter raffle raised £113.00 and the raffle at The Kings Head raised a further £80……… THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTED US, it is very much appreciated. 
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be raising a free donation for Chapel Lane Pre School? There are nearly 3,000 retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's, who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend to Chapel Lane Pre School to say thank you for shopping with them. 
It's really simple, and doesn't cost you anything. 
All you have to do is:

3. Get shopping - your donations will be collected by easyfundraising and automatically sent to Chapel Lane Pre School.  They also have an App in the App Store, if you make purchases through your mobile or tablet……it couldn't be easier! 
There are no catches or hidden charges and Chapel Lane Pre School - Tonbridge will be really grateful for your donations.


As some of you are already aware, we now have a Facebook page, please add/like us if you have Facebook. Our admins – Kristen, Louise, Tara, Lesley will post regularly on there with updates on what’s coming up and things that staff or children have achieved throughout the term, we value your support so please like and share us  Thank you to everyone who has already shared the page!


If you need to contact us, please call the school phone 07929 074083, email on [email protected] or speak to any member of staff.  Our staff ARE NOT allowed contact via private messages on any social networking site, i.e. Facebook, even if you already know staff prior to joining the pre-school - please avoid using this as a method of contact regarding pre-school queries as we are not able to respond.


If your child is poorly or unable to come to pre-school, please can you call the pre-school after 8.45am and leave a message with your name and relationship to the child, the time, date and the reason why your child is unable to come. Thank you 


Please remember that if your child is sick or had diarrhoea they should not return to pre-school for 48 hours after the last episode of illness. This prevents the sickness being spread to others. Please also note that if your child has been prescribed antibiotics we ask that they should not return to pre-school until 48 hours after the first dose has been given of the anti-biotics; again this is to prevent infection spreading.


We believe that children settle best when they have a key person to relate to, who knows them and their parents well, who can meet their individual needs.  Research shows that a key person approach benefits the child, the parents, the staff and the setting by providing secure relationships in which children can thrive, parents have confidence, staff are committed and the setting is happy and a dedicated place to attend.

Your child has been allocated a key person, this person will be responsible for your child’s development records, sharing information, and will work with you to plan and deliver a personalised plan for your child’s well-being, care and learning.

Sometimes it is not always possible for the key person to be present on all of your child's days for example when attending training courses. We therefore also operate a buddy system where another member of staff will act as key person on those days.

Your child has been given a contact book, for you and us to write in.  On the front of this book, will be your key-worker’s name and also a key-person list is on the door near the entrance inside the pre-school.


Please can you ensure that we have up to date contact information, e.g. change in phone numbers, authorised people who will be collecting your child, etc. This avoids a delay in case of emergency and any delay/awkward moments over collecting children; we will not let your child leave our care unless we have been authorised to allow collection by a friend or family member. If someone else is collecting your child, please write it in the register in the morning or telephone us at least fifteen minutes before pick up time.


If your child stays for lunch with us please make sure they have a clearly labelled lunch bag/box. Please avoid putting anything with nut content into their lunch for allergy purposes; this includes chocolate spread. We ask that all children bring a well-balanced lunch, please follow this link for ideas on healthy lunchboxes.


Every week we offer the opportunity for parents/carers to stay and play in session time. The children love this and parents that have stayed have commented how useful it is to see their children at Pre-school it can provide comfort in knowing they are settled and that their friendships are growing and evolving. Please come and stay and play for a session if you are able to, this gives a much more in depth insight into how your children learn while they are with us.


Now that it seems to be getting warmer please ensure your child comes to pre-school with a sun hat (legionaires style to cover the neck), a lightweight waterproof coat and a change of clothes, including underwear. We will apply sunscreen twice a day unless you tell us otherwise. We use the Lloyds Pharmacy own brand children’s sunscreen. Please let us know if your child has any known allergies to this.

Please can you ensure that all items of clothing are fully named as it is very hard to return them to the rightful owner if not.


Please note, as per the email that was sent out during Half term, our last day of term will be TUESDAY 18th July.


There has been a change to the timing of the school visit on 26th June – we ask that you meet us at the gates at 1.25pm and collect the children at 2.30pm please.


All children and staff are invited to dress up on 21st and 22nd June to celebrate our Pirate themed week 

26th June Staplehurst School Visit (1.30-2.30pm)

3rd July Sports Afternoon (12.45pm-2.30pm)
